Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, stirred controversy during a recent rally in Swabi by alleging that all decisions against Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, were pre-determined. He pledged to fight legal battles against these decisions and insisted that the Pakistani people would have the final say in the upcoming elections on February 8th.
Asad Qaiser expressed his dissatisfaction with the judicial process surrounding recent legal rulings against Imran Khan. He criticized what he perceived as a lack of due process and transparency, claiming that the decisions were made in advance without fair consideration of the facts.
One of the main issues highlighted by Asad Qaiser is the legality of Imran Khan’s marriage to Bushra Bibi. He referred to a recent court verdict that declared their marriage illegal under Section 495 of the Penal Code of Pakistan. According to the judgment, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to seven year imprisonment.
Asad Qaiser questioned the timing and validity of Imran Khan’s marriage, suggesting that if it was legitimate, there would have been no need for a re-marriage ceremony on February 14th. He also pointed out alleged discrepancies in the legal proceedings, claiming that evidence was not properly presented and that the defense was not given a fair opportunity to cross-examine witnesses.
Furthermore, Asad Qaiser criticized what he perceived as the politicization of legal cases against Imran Khan. He further says that Imran Khan was swiftly sentenced to imprisonment within a short period of time. He emphasized the importance of following due process and ensuring a fair trial for all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
In response to the court’s verdict, Barrister Gohar announced plans to challenge the decision in the High Court. He echoed Asad Qaiser’s concerns regarding the lack of proper legal procedure and pledged to continue the fight for justice on behalf of Imran Khan.
Despite the challenges faced by Imran Khan and the PTI, Asad Qaiser remains optimistic about their prospects. He reiterated his commitment to fighting legal battles against what he perceives as unjust decisions, trusting in the Pakistani people to ultimately determine the outcome in the upcoming elections.
As the political landscape continues to evolve in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, Asad Qaiser’s allegations shed light on the contentious nature of legal proceedings in Pakistan. With the stakes higher than ever, the battle for justice and fairness remains a central theme in the ongoing political discourse.
